Thinks on Things

A gathering of ponderings…

Agree or Disagree?

Where you are determines how you view where you’ve been.

Where you’ve been determines how you view where you are.

  1. The former is actually one of the most replicated findings in all of psychology. No doubt about that one. For example, you will remember your childhood less positively if you are depressed today. All this and more is explained very clearly and humorously by Dan Gilbert in “Stumbling on Happiness”, if you’re interested.

The latter, I’m not so sure. I suppose it comes into play when you’re thinking about “Well, things aren’t as bad as they were right after high school” or “I don’t remember things ever being this bad before”, etc.
